Toinkit provides remote access to your computer even through a router. Lots of computers these days are connected to the internet through routers. Toinkit automatically configures your router and provides access to your media files from any computer with an internet connection.

 Remote access to your media is only possible if you allow a connection to be made to your computer. That means if you have a router, there should be a port assigned for Toinkit. This is done automatically using a technology called UPnP. For this to happen, the UPnP feature on your router must be enabled. Please consult your router's manual or go to your router-manufacturer's website for proper directions on how to enable the UPnP setting.
During installation Toinkit automatically checks your router and configures your router with an available port. You can also change the port number by using the Toinkit icon in the system tray and selecting "Configure Port".

 Routers come in all different models and configurations. If your router does not come with UPnP features, you can manually assign a port on your router and configure Toinkit to use that port. The procedure for assigning a port depends on the make and model of your router. Please consult your router's manual or go to your router-manufacturer's website for proper directions, or go to Port Forward page and find your router model for further directions.
