What is Toinkit?
Toinkit is a new standard in accessing and stream sharing your MP3s, photos, favorites (bookmarks) and documents on your computer locally and remotely. The best part of Toinkit is its web-interface. All you need for Toinkit is a web browser. Once you have accessed your media files the possibilities of what you can do with them is endless. You can create music playlists from your own MP3s or photo slideshows of your own digital photos. You can stream-share your MP3 collection or photo album with friends and family members on the internet instantly. So no need to send large MP3 or picture files by email. You can also use messaging software to stream-share your MP3s and Photos and Favorites with your chat buddies instantly. With Toinkit you can also send files to your home computer remotely. The files in your Toinkit folder under My Documents can be accessed from anywhere.
How does Toinkit work?
Toinkit uses an intelligent collector to collect and organize the information about your media files (MP3s, Digital Photos, Internet URLs) on your computer and display and serve them beautifully on a web browser. Locally you can use Toinkit to easily access your media files, and remotely you can use the browser of any computer on the internet and log in to your Toinkit account to gain access to your media files. Toinkit is built with the capabilities of the internet in mind. It uses TCP/IP as its main core for local and remote access.
Does Toinkit work with dynamic IP addresses?
Toinkit automatically handles the changes to your computer's IP address. There is no need to install any applications for dynamic IP change updates.
Can I use Toinkit behind a cable/DSL router?
Toinkit uses the UPnP technology to work behind a router. If your router is not UPnP capable, you need to assign a port for Toinkit. Please refer to the Router Page for more information.
Which messenger services can I use with Toinkit for stream sharing my files?
You can use any messenger service or email client to stream-share your media files with Toinkit.
Can Toinkit handle multiple downloads or shares at the same time?
Toinkit easily supports simultaneous downloads or streams. You are only limited to your bandwidth.
Should my computer be ON all the time for Toinkit to work?
Since Toinkit shares reside on your computer and are not uploaded to a remote server, your computer needs to be online for the shares to work. But if you are not stream sharing any media files or remote accessing your computer, then there is no need to have your computer ON all the time.
How secure is Toinkit?
Toinkit uses MD5 encryption to generate your links. Passwords are authenticated using MD5 Digest Authentication (never sent as plain text) and stored using MD5 Encryption as well. User login is controlled using encrypted MD5 keys that are automatically changed on a regular basis.
How is access to Toinkit shares controlled?
Toinkit shares are not open to anonymous users or to public access. Access is controlled by the Toinkit user by sending the share link only to those persons he/she desires to give access. The share link also controls which files may be accessed based on the Toinkit users' selections when he creates a share (eg. album/playlist/quickshare).
Installation
What are the system requirements for Toinkit?
Toinkit requires 800Mhz pentium III or better, Windows XP with Service Pack 2, Broadband (High Speed) internet connection, Internet Explorer 6 or Firefox, Windows Media Player 10 or Winamp.
How do I access Toinkit locally (on my computer)?
Double click on the Toinkit icon on your Desktop or click on Toinkit tray icon and select "Launch Toinkit".
Can I install Toinkit on more than one computer?
Toinkit only works on ONE computer. Each purchase of the Toinkit application gives you ONE account which cannot be transferred to another computer.
How do I uninstall Toinkit?
Go to Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs to uninstall Toinkit.
Routers and Firewalls
What is a Router?
A router is a hardware or software that connects a local network (your computer at home) to the Internet. Routers are sometimes referred to as gateways. Most of the routers come with firewalls built into them. Toinkit automatically configures any UPnP capable router. If your router is not UPnP capable, you need to assign a port for Toinkit on your router. Please refer to the Router Page for more information.
How do I know I am behind a router?
Check your IP Address. Go to Start > Run > Type cmd > OK > Type ipconfig. If your IP address is: 192.168.x.x, you are using an Intranet (private) IP address. That means your computer is behind a router.
How do I enable UPnP on my router?
Most of the routers these days come with UPnP enabled out of the box. If Toinkit cannot configure your router during installation, it means that either UPnP is not enabled on your router, or the SSDP Discovery Service on your Windows XP is disabled. Please refer to the Router Page for more information on how to enable the UPnP on your router.
What is a Firewall?
A firewall is a hardware/software system that blocks connections to a computer from outside world. Almost all of the routers have a built-in firewall to help protect your computer from internet intruders. Windows XP is also equipped with a built-in firewall. Toinkit automatically configures your Windows XP firewall. If you have a software firewall installed on your computer, you need to configure it to ALLOW or UNBLOCK the Toinkit application.
Usage & Sharing
How do I play/stream-share my MP3s with Toinkit?
Expand the My MP3s on the left panel.
From the left panel, click on the Play Entire Folder
icon to play all the MP3s in that folder.
From the right panel, click on the Play Song
icon to play a single MP3.
Click on the Share Song
icon to stream-share a single MP3.
Click on the Delete Song
icon (only on local interface) to delete a single MP3.
Click on the Download Song
icon (only on remote interface) to Download a single MP3.
To play a selection of multiple MP3s, select the MP3s using the checkboxes, then click on the Play Selections
icon on the top bar.
To stream-share a selection of Mp3s or a playlist, select the MP3s using the checkboxes, then click on the Share Selections
icon on the top bar to stream-share your playlist.
How do I create MP3 playlists with Toinkit?
Select the MP3s using the checkboxes, then click on the Playlist
icon, enter a playlist name and click OK.
You can now click on the Playlist folder in the left panel and use the top bar functions in the top right panel to Edit, Play, Stream-Share, Burn MP3 CD, Copy to Location or Preview your playlists as shared.
How do I burn MP3 files with Toinkit?
Remember that you can only burn MP3 CDs with Toinkit.
Select the MP3s using the checkboxes. Click the Burn
icon. Insert a blank CD into the CDRW drive. Select the drive using the dropdown menu on the top bar. Click on the Burn Now
icon.
How do I sort my MP3s with Toinkit?
You can sort your MP3s by Artist, Album, Genre, Album Year, Title and Filename by simply hovering your mouse over the column header bar and selecting one of the items in the dropdown menu.
How do I view/share my photos with Toinkit?
Expand the My Photos on the left panel.
From the left panel, click on the View Entire Folder
icon to view all photos in that folder.
From the right panel, click on any thumbnails to start a slideshow view of your photos or select any thumbnails using the checkboxes and click on the View Selections
icon on the top bar to start a slideshow.
To share, select any thumbnails in the right panel using the checkboxes and click on the Share Album
icon and select Attachment to attach your selection to an email, or select Paste Link to create a link of your selections which can be put in a chat window for immediate sharing, or select Email Link to insert the link in an email window.
How do I create/share slideshows with Toinkit?
Select the photos for your photo album, then click on the Save Album
icon, enter a photo album name and click OK.
You can now click on the Photo Albums folder in the left panel and use the top bar functions in the top right panel to Remove, View, Share, Burn a Picture CD, Copy to a Location or Preview your photo album as shared.
How do I burn photos with Toinkit?
Select the photos using the checkboxes. Click the Burn

How do I send files to my home computer remotely?
The files sent to your computer remotely are placed in your Toinkit folder under My Documents.
Click on the Upload
icon in the lower left panel. Click Browse in the right panel and select the file you want to send to your computer and click Send File.
How long does the share link stay active?
MP3s, Photos and Favorite (Bookmark) shares (ie. Quick Shares) are valid for 5 days.
MP3 playlists and Photo album shares are valid indefinitely. If you edit the shared playlist or photo album by adding or removing MP3s/Photos, the changes are reflected in the original share link, so that there is no need to resend multiple links.
Why can't others open my shared media files?
This could be because your computer is turned off or not online. Remember your shares reside on your computer and in order for others to view or play those shares, Toinkit service on your computer needs to be running.
How do I view the new MP3 or Photo files that I just added to a folder?
Click on the folder with the new MP3/Photo files in the left panel. Then click on the Refresh
icon on the upper right corner in the right panel. The new MP3/Photo files will be added to the Toinkit database.
How do I clear all selections in the right panel?
To reset all checkbox selections in the right panel, click on the Clear
icon on the upper right corner.
Remote Access
How do I access Toinkit remotely?
From any computer on the internet, go to Toinkit web site and log in with your username and password.
How do I access files in Toinkit folder on my home computer remotely?
Simply log into Toinkit web site and click on your username folder in the left panel. You can now click on the Save File
icon to download the file.
How do I download MP3s and photos remotely?
Log into Toinkit and select the MP3s or photos using the checkboxes and click on Download Selections
icon and click Save. The files are compressed on your home computer and sent to you as a zip file. You can then unzip the file and save them to a folder.
